As part of the Global Learning Program, I applied to the International Buddy Program to be matched with an exchange student. We met on a regular basis to get to know each other and to help assimilate. I was given two buddies, Sarah and Mia. Some examples of activities we did together include:
On a Friday for lunch in the GC Atrium. We meet up around noon and got to know each other until around two. We discussed some of our future plans in school, how the semester was coming along for everyone, and some of our other interests. We also planned our second meeting for the month.We met up for a coffee at Starbucks. We stayed for a little while and talked about our weekends, and planned our first meeting for the next month. We met up for lunch and coffee quite regularly throughout the semester.
Our most exciting activity for the semester was meeting at the Vizcaya Museums and Gardens. We walked around the grounds admiring the flowers and views, stopping along the way to take photographs. After reaching the picnic area, we stopped and had lunch together at one of the tables. We talked about the holidays coming up and the wrapping up of the semester.
